This policy explains what information Chutky ("we") collects, why, and the choices you have. It is written to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
Information we collect
- Account details: name, username, email address, optional mobile number, optional profile photo, and a securely hashed password.
- Content you post: questions, answers, comments, votes, reports and uploaded files.
- Usage information: pages viewed, searches, device and browser type, and IP address, used for security, abuse prevention and improving Chutky.
- Approximate location: only a city or area you choose to add to your profile or question. We never ask for or publish your street address.
How we use it
- To run Chutky: show your content, notifications and profile.
- To generate Chutky AI answers: the text of your question (and any file you attach) is sent to our AI providers to produce an answer. We do not send your name, email or mobile number.
- To keep the community safe: detect spam, fraud and abuse, and enforce our guidelines.
- To improve Chutky, using aggregated statistics.
What is public
Public questions, answers, comments, your username, display name, profile photo, bio, badges and points are visible to everyone and may appear in search engines. Your email address and mobile number are never shown publicly. Questions you mark private or anonymous are handled as described when you post them.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers who help us run Chutky (hosting, email delivery, AI providers) under appropriate safeguards, or when required by law.
Retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep records for legal or security reasons. Public contributions may remain in anonymised form so conversations stay readable.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal data, and withdraw consent, by emailing hello@chutky.com.
Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and protect forms. We do not use advertising cookies at this time.
Children
Chutky is not intended for children under 13. Users under 18 should use Chutky with a parent or guardian's consent.
Changes
We will post updates on this page and notify registered users of significant changes.
